No Programming
Required
To begin using the report
specifications that you create in the Designer, you
only need to install the print4mobile™ Viewer on your
mobile computing device. No need to understand the
Engine API and no need to perform any mobile
application programming. Just launch the Viewer on
the mobile computing device and follow the on-screen
options.
Working with the Viewer
When the Viewer is launched on
your mobile computing device, you shall be prompted
to select your desired report followed by a
selection of the output destination. Reports that are
generated may be output to a formatted text file,
on-screen display or a portable printer. Finally,
you shall be prompted to enter data for variable
report parameters that are defined in your selected
report specification.
Select
the report and its options
in the
print4mobile™ Viewer . . .

Run the report to view it.

Deploying the Viewer
For mobile software developers,
the Viewer is often a fast and effective tool with
which to test their report specifications directly
on a mobile computing device, and verify the output
generated to a portable printer.
However, the Viewer is also used
in many instances as a standalone mobile software
application that is deployed on mobile computing
devices for use by end-users. Its ease of use and
small size allow it to compliment existing mobile
software applications, extending report and print
capabilities without requiring any source code
changes.

To see the type
and style of reports that the print4mobile™ solution
can generate, see the report gallery page
on this web site.
When you select to
output a report to the display of your mobile
computing device, the Engine directly creates a
window on the mobile device screen into which the formatted report
is generated. An example of this type of output can
be seen in the screenshot shown on the lower left
side of this page.
If you wish to
control the output of a report using your own
application, then you should select to output the
generated report to a formatted text file. Your
mobile software application can then read this text
file and manage any other processing that you may
wish to perform on the output as well as directly
control the style and method used to display the
report to the user.
